Resident Program Director, Europe, International Republican Institute
Thibault Muzergues has been working at the International Rrepublican Institute‘s Europe Regional Office since 2011, and currently serves as its Europe Program Director, based in Vienna, Austria. Prior to his arrival at IRI, Thibault worked for 5 years as a fundraiser and direct marketing consultant to France’s leading party UMP and Nicolas Sarkozy; in this position he pioneered online fundraising in the 2007 French presidential elections and introduced new techniques such as Tele-Town Halls, mostly inspired from the American marketing experience. He started his career in London, United Kingdom, where he served as advisor to the British Conservatives, both at regional and local levels.
At IRI, Thibault Muzergues specialises in work with political parties, assisting their development as a way to stabilize political systems. He is the author of several articles in openDemocracy and French newspaper Le Monde, and is currently writing a book on the evolution of the party systems in Europe and North America. He is also a recognized trainer for politicians and political party staff, having himself trained young and senior leaders all over Europe, but also in Africa (Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Niger, Senegal, etc.), Asia (Burma, Thailand, Pakistan) and the Middle East and North Africa (Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia).
Muzergues graduated from the London School of Economics (UK; MSc Russian and Post-Soviet Studies) and Sciences-Po Paris (France, Masters in Public Administration, Summa Cum Laude), and is originally from the South West of France.
